For over 50 years, St. Irenaeus Catholic Church and Parish School have been serving the people of Cypress and the surrounding area while watching the area grow and change from generation to generation. Although there has been continual change surrounding St. Irenaeus over those 50 years, one thing has not changed — the commitment of our parish to the faith we have in Jesus Christ. Since the days of the first Masses in the original church and the establishment of St. Irenaeus Parish School over 50 years ago, the people of faith have gathered together for prayer, worship, service to the poor and fellowship as part of our parish. As a parish community, some of our proudest moments come through the children served through our parish school creating the next generation of Catholics to serve here locally and to share the message of Christ throughout the world.
At St. Irenaeus Parish School we are dedicated to developing life-long learners who live their faith through commitment to Catholic values, stewardship, and academic excellence. I am so proud of our students, teachers, and families who uphold traditions that reflect our past while paving the way for a future filled with hope and promise. That’s what I see in our students and their achievements – hope and promise.
Now, more than ever, Catholic Education can deliver a future of hope and promise. Pope Francis stated the importance of Catholic education in a world barraged by information and social media:
“We are living in an information-driven society which bombards us indiscriminately with data—all treated as being of equal importance—and which leads to remarkable superficiality in the area of moral discernment. In response, we need to provide an education which teaches critical thinking and encourages the development of mature moral values. …And how much good has been done by Catholic schools and universities around the world!”
I encourage all of our parish families to send their children to St. Irenaeus Parish School, and welcome all families outside of our parish who are searching for a quality education grounded in morals and values.
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Patrick Moses, Pastor
