A Little About Me

My name is Carmen Castañeda and I have been teaching since 2012.  I started at St. I in 2015 as a long term substitute and now I'm teaching junior high math and 6th grade homeroom teacher. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a BS in Applied Math and a minor in Chicana/o Studies, I started teaching as part of the organization Teach for America (TFA). With TFA, I taught math for two years at a charter continuation/credit recovery high school out in the San Fernando Valley until I fulfilled my commitment and started a third year at a different charter high school in Koreatown. I eventually made my way back home and found myself teaching here at St. I. I feel truly blessed to be part of the St. I family and community.
