PHYSICAL
EDUCATION CLASSROOM RULES & GRADING CRITERIA
Boys and Girls Grades K - 8
Mrs. Rawlings - Mr. Flores Classroom
Rules for Students 1.
Walk out quietly and quickly to Physical Education area (straight
lines). 2.
A good Christian attitude must be displayed to each other at all times.
Show good sportsmanship to all of your classmates (no name calling or
swearing). 3.
The student will keep his/her hands, feet, or objects to themselves. 4.
No gum chewing at any time. (No warning! One hour detention - grade
appropriate(drinks included)) 5.
Do not leave class without permission from Mr. Flores or Mrs. Rawlings.
6.
Blue or khaki uniform shorts are required on all Physical
Education days, if not available, a written note from the parent stating the
reason for being out of uniform to be given to Mrs. Rawlings or Mr.
Flores on that day. a.
The first time a student fails to wear the uniform blue shorts and
proper athletic shoes, a reminder will be sent home in writing. b.
The second time a one (1) hour detention will be issued: Grade
Appropriate. (After two (2)
reminders for not wearing the uniform blue or khaki shorts or tennis shoes,
the student will be sent to Mrs. Bohm) c.
November-February khaki or blue uniform pants may be worn on cold
rainy days. All students must have available uniform shorts for PE upon
request from Mrs. Rawlings or Mr. Flores. 7.
No fingernail polish, fake nails, makeup, rings, etc.
(Refer to handbook for explanation.) 8.
Traditional tennis shoes are required on non-uniform dress days
for grades K-8. No trendy slip-ons or platform soled tennis shoes allowed.
Laces must be tie on top not tucked in shoe tongue. (NO EXCEPTION) a.
Kindergarten students must have tennis shoes and comfortable
clothing to participate daily. 9.
Students must be on time for Physical Education. a.
If a student is late to class a note must be provided. Excessive
tardiness or absences will affect the students Physical Education grade. b.
Students with medical documentation will assist teachers for the days
of non-participation or students will receive written assignments for grades
4-8 in order to obtain points for the day. If
Students Break A Rule: 1st
Time:
Verbal or written warning with additional class assignments if needed,
or time out on the bench. This
will be at the teachers discretion.
2nd Time:
One hour detention for grades 5-8 after school.
A half hour at lunch or recess for
grades K-4. Parent will be
contacted by Mrs. Bohm NOTE:
Violation of all rules are evaluated quarterly. Severe
Disruption in Classroom: (No warnings necessary for severe disruption) 1.
Taken to Administration. 2.
Parents called. 3.
One hour automatic detention after school. 4.
Loss of points for the day. Examples: 1.
Fighting (physically or verbally). 2.
Rude behavior or disrespect shown to Mrs. Rawlings or Mr. Flores or any
teacher's aid or substitute. 3.
Leaving class without permission, before class is dismissed. (Please no
visiting parents or other members of your family during Physical Education
time.) Emergency only PLEASE. 4.
Continuously forgetting to wear appropriate uniform shorts for Physical
Education class. (1 warning per
quarter). A.
Non-uniform dress days - athletic tied
shoes MUST be worn to school, clothing should be comfortable for
participating in Physical Education. All students are required to participate
in Physical Education. (Student will lose points for the day if appropriate
shoes are not worn.) B.
Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts may wear their
appropriate scout uniform on Physical Education days, if meeting after school,
that includes a uniform shorts for the Scout Program. (Physical Education
shoes are required). 5.
Uncooperative behavior in the exercise routine, or lack of following
program instructions from Mr. Flores, Mrs. Rawlings, Teacher Aide, or any
Substitute Teacher. 6.
Hurting each other on the inside or outside. 7.
Athletic shoes not tied with laces outside of shoe on top. Rewards
Given To Outstanding Classes: 1.
Surprise
privileges during Physical Education time. 2.
Fitness
Gram Participation Certificate. 3.

Gram testing - 4-8. Each
individual skill area is taught in units in order not to confuse skill
development within any particular area. Physical
Education is a learning experience, not playing and competing on a win or
loses criteria. Sportsmanship and
a good Christian attitude are our goals to promote a healthy learning
environment. We
feel very assured our classroom plan for Physical Education will be effective
and make our program a learning and enjoyable experience for all students at
St. Irenaeus Parish School. We
