Overview

Open House - KindergartenWe have 20 students in 2 Kindergarten classes. Each class has a teacher and a full time teacher's aid. Our program is from 8:00am to 2:45pm each day. Day Care is available for students both before and after Kindergarten. There is a separate fee for students in Day Care, and it is only available on regular school days. It is not open on school holidays, Christmas or Easter vacation, or summer vacation. Students entering Kindergarten need to be 5 years old by September 1 of the year that they enter Kindergarten.

Enrollment Process

The registration process for Kindergarten begins in January with a new parent information evening. Registration is held in February and parents need to bring in their child's birth certificate, baptismal information and immunization records. At that time an appointment will be made for your child to complete a screening process. This process assesses whether your child has the skills needed for a successful year in our Kindergarten program. The assessment takes about 20-30 minutes. Letters of acceptance are usually mailed out by Easter.

Daily Schedule

Our Kindergarten program is from 8:00-2:45pm. The bell actually rings a little before 8:00. Students who arrive after the bell are considered late and need to go to the office for a late slip before coming in to the classroom.

Day Care is available before and after Kindergarten. Separate fees are charged for this program. Any child who is not picked up at 2:45, will be taken to Day Care.

Students need a snack and drink each day. We have snack time at approximately 10:00 each day. Students also need to bring their lunch, or buy the school hot lunch.

Dismissal is at 2:45 each day. Parents are asked to park their car and pick up their child at the classroom door. We will ask you to fill out a form listing the people who will regularly be picking up your child. Your child will not be released to anyone who is not on this list unless we have a signed and dated written note giving them permission to take your child home. This includes friends, neighbors, and parents of classmates.

What to Wear and Bring Each Day

Kindergarten students wear the school uniform. Details are in the school handbook.

Kindergarten students need to bring a "bottom pocket" folder to school each day. All other supplies are provided. Backpacks are not needed.Kindergarten Cupboards

Any money that is sent to school should be put in an envelope and clearly labeled with your family number and the purpose of the money: (Tuition, Day Care, Field Trip, etc.)

Students are not to bring toys, money, or other items to school.

All sweaters, jackets, lunch boxes, etc. should be clearly labeled with your child's name.

Parent Involvement

We do have opportunities for parents to help in the classroom and earn "FISH" hours. It is usually the last hour of the morning during our Workshop program.

We have monthly birthday parties where we celebrate with all of the students who have a birthday that month. Parents are asked to send in treats for the party. The celebration is during snack time.

Parents are asked to follow the school driving and parking procedures.

Notify the teacher throughout the year if there are any changes in home or work phone numbers, or other emergency information.

Formal Parent Teacher conferences are held in November. Other conferences are scheduled as needed.

We go to great lengths to keep you informed of all that is happening in the Kindergarten classroom and the school. Weekly behavior charts are sent home on Friday. Teacher letters and notes are sent home at least once a week. The Principal's Newsletter is sent home biweekly through the oldest child in your family. Please read all the materials that are sent home.

If you have a question or concern, please stop in before or after class. A message can be sent in through your child's folder and we will respond in writing, or call you if needed. The school phone number is 714 827-4500 School or  additional classroom information can be accessed through Mrs. Parsons' website.

Kindergarten Homework is assigned every day, Monday through Thursday. Homework includes the following: Any worksheet or paper stamped Homework. Sharing (Students have an assigned "Sharing Day" and they bring one item that fits the assigned topic for the week.) A special parent/child project that has specific directions. (Finding magazine pictures, finding photos, etc.)
